Janelle Monae reveals in a new interview with The Cut that she's ready to become a mom--once she recovers from mercury poisoning. "Like many people, she is trying to find the right time professionally to take a step back to have a child," the outlet says. "She wants to make sure she is healthy enough as she recovers from mercury poisoning, which she got after becoming a pescatarian." The 34-year-old Monae also told the outlet that her mercury poisoning made her start “feeling my mortality." Page Six notes that back in April 2018, Monae said, “I want to have children, but I don’t want to miss that time because I was so focused on my career and because I didn’t plan accordingly. That scares me most now more than anything.”
